Joyous Conversation

"I've never been so happy before!" he says, lifting his arms in the air and walking across the room.

"Why?" she asks.

"Because I found my purpose in life." he replies.

"What's that?"

"To live and glorify the Lamb!"

She nods in agreement.

We need to facilitate moving people toward the line supernatural line of faith.

One of the most profound and helpful concepts for Christians on evangelism.

Just Walk Across The Room by Bill Hybels
"I believe many people begin their spiritual quest at a negative ten and that my role is facilitate their movement to a negative eight" ... "[Sometimes] you might have the priviledge of taking someone who is teetering right on the edge all the way to a positive one, right across the supernatual line of faith. The thrill of it all exists in the fact that as we walk into a spiritual exchange, you and I have no idea what role the Spirit has ordained for us to play...."

Germany Vacation

Lina, Christian, and I visited Lina's sister in Germany last week. We had a great time hanging with them. Lina's sister was an excellent tour guide and took us all over Bavaria. We drove right to the border of Germany and Austria near Switzerland and visited Neuschwanstein castle. It was beautiful country.

Albert Einstein on God

Nobody, certainly, will deny that the idea of the existence of an omnipotent, just, and omnibeneficent personal God is able to accord man solace, help, and guidance; also, by virtue of its simplicity it is accessible to the most undeveloped mind. But, on the other hand, there are decisive weaknesses attached to this idea in itself, which have been painfully felt since the beginning of history. That is, if this being is omnipotent, then every occurrence, including every human action, every human thought, and every human feeling and aspiration is also His work; how is it possible to think of holding men responsible for their deeds and thoughts before such an almighty Being? In giving out punishment and rewards He would to a certain extent be passing judgment on Himself. How can this be combined with the goodness and righteousness ascribed to Him?

Before I post in response to Einstein, would anyone like to comment on this?

Saturday Outreach

Lina and I went with a group of people from http://www.discoverlifechurch.tv and invited people to church for Easter. In all honesty, in the beginning, there wasn't much response from people we met. Most people took the invitation and went on with their business, and that continued on for an hour or so. But God moved in an awesome way towards the end of our trip, and three people dedicated their life to the Lord! Isn't that awesome!? As a result, three people's lives have been completely changed.

The bible says that, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." 2 Cor 5:17

Hallelujah!!

Exercizing and the Brain

Sometimes I use the Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board to exercize. The Wii Fit offers Yoga and Strength training, with 15 different exercizes for each type of workout. The training focuses on almost every part of the body, including the abs, hips, legs, arms, and back. I prefer doing the yoga workout exercizes because I enjoy the clear thinking I experience after each workout. Deep breathing is a big part of every yoga exercize, it helps relieve muscle stress and provides oxygen to the brain.

From what I've read, the brain is divided into two halves, the left and right brain, as they are commonly referred to. Experiments have been done to find out what distinguishes the left brain from the right brain, and what scientists have found is that the left brain is responsible for logical, analytical, thinking and also likes numbers and words. The right brain is responsible for associating patterns, images, free association of thoughts, and intuition. People tend to be either left brain dominant or right. And for some reason, the left brain control the right side of our body, and the right brain controls the left side of our body. There is also a pathway that connects the two halves of the brain so that they can communicate with one another.

When we exercize, we normally have to use both sides of our body. That means both sides of our brain are being used simultaneously to control our movement, the left side moving the right limbs and the right side moving the left limbs. There is a total stimulation of the mind when we exercize our body in that both sides are trying to accomplish the same goal and are undergoing equal stimulation. I would guess that regular exercize would help balance the dominance of both halves of the brain, so that a person would not tend to be either left or right brain dominant. Why would someone want to be both? Being a balanced right and left brain thinker will help solve more problems creatively, and will help finish your creative projects with more objectiveness and focus. Every great artist is also a great scientist, and vice versa.

Learning Korean

My new years resolution for 08 was to study korean everyday for at least an hour. In actuality I only studied korean about once a month! My new years resolution for 09 was still to study korean everyday. I've been much more determined this year and have studied about once a week. This year I've been keeping a journal of what I'm learning in korean and also I'm using a lot more resources, and trying to speak Korean as much as possible whenever I have a chance.

Facing your fears is at the core of learning a language. It's about making yourself vulnerable to complete strangers, and at times being completely humiliated and embarassed and uncomfortable all combined with the exhiliarting rush of communicating in a completely different language to completely foreign people. Of course, some people will laugh at you, and will try not to crack up just listening to you, but don't let their laughing be a deterent from your goal. Keep focused on the people you want to reach once you reach your goal! Also, it's best to be able to laugh at yourself, become a person who is open and friendly and who desires to learn and who can brush off insult and mockery!!

Just to remind everyone, my wife's family is from Korea, and mostly korean-speaking. My mother's family is also korean and korean-speaking. I would really like to learn how to speak Korean much better and so I'm using the method of repetition and study, every resource I can find, and every opportunity to speak it with native-speakers.

By the way, here is a link to a fun Korean Dictionary I found http://www.indiana.edu/~koreanrs/kordic.html, enjoy!

Hungry?

I gained 8lbs on a Christmas cruise!! I weighed myself on the Wii Fit before and after. I woke up every morning on the cruise, went up to the cafeteria, and would fill my plate with eggs, and cereal, and fruit, and biscuits and gravy, and a little coffee and juice, and also some sausage and bacon, maybe some corn hash, and a bowl of muesli. Afterwards I found that finding a nice seat somewhere was better than walking around. I didn't really notice I was gaining weight.

Then I came back home, and I just couldn't keep up the pace. I was reading a blog about Proverbs 30:7-9, and I realized that I always eat to get full!! I had never really paid attention to this passage before but I realized that it directly applies to any activity whatsoever that we as humans do in order to get "full".

Two things I asked of You,Do not refuse me before I die: 8 Keep deception and lies far from me,Give me neither poverty nor riches;Feed me with the food that is my portion, 9 That I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the LORD?”Or that I not be in want and steal,And profane the name of my God.

So I learned that
1) I had some wrong thinking that I was supposed to eat to get full
2) If I just push the plate away before the last couple bites I don't feel like I'm starving
3) We are meant to feel hungry all the time, it keeps us dependent on God and keeps us seeking Him
4) Pastors, and writers, and speakers are used by God to bring to our attention important life changing messages in God's Word
